On March 31, 2007, Ohio Governor Ted Strickland signed into law House Bill 67, the transportation bill for fiscal years 2008 and 2009.  Included within the bill were provisions for the creation of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Funding Task Force.  The task force, whose members serve by gubernatorial appointment, shall study the method of funding the Ohio State Highway Patrol and shall issue a report of its findings to the General Assembly and the Governor by July 1, 2008.  The Task Force shall include in the report a recommendation for a dedicated and stable long-term funding source for the State Patrol.  Upon issuing its report, the Task Force shall cease to exist.
